The Vancouver Whitecaps receive a takeover offer – combined with a request to move to a city 1,500 kilometers away.

The portal “The Athletic” reports that the MLS has received an offer to buy the Vancouver Whitecaps. The potential buyer wants to move the team to Las Vegas. Grant Gustavson, son of billionaire Tamara Gustavson, is said to be behind the offer.

Only at the beginning of the week did the Whitecaps announce that they had not yet found a buyer who would be loyal to the location. The previous investors want to sell the club. If there is no buyer for Vancouver, moving to another city is possible.

This is not an isolated case in North America: the basketball champion Oklahoma City Thunder emerged from the Seattle SuperSonics in 2008.

The Whitecaps have been playing in the MLS since 2011. Last year they reached the final with long-time Bayern star Thomas Müller – but lost to Inter Miami with Argentina’s world champion Lionel Messi.
