Renārs Uščins is under contract with TSV Hannover-Burgdorf until summer 2027. After that, the national player apparently moves abroad.
National handball player Renars Uscins is apparently moving to Paris Saint-Germain from July 1, 2027. The 23-year-old is said to have signed a contract with the French first division club until 2030, as “Sport Bild” reports. The transfer has not yet been officially confirmed. For a long time, SG Flensburg-Handewitt was considered the most promising prospect.
In addition to his Bundesliga experience, Uščins also brings international merits: the left-hander won Olympic silver in 2024 and was runner-up at the European Championships in 2026. He scored 225 goals in 55 international matches. At PSG he could now also be used in the Champions League, which according to “Sport Bild” was a central goal of the backcourt player.
Paris Saint-Germain is currently leading the Ligue Nationale and, like pursuer HBC Nantes, is still without a defeat in the current season. The league includes 16 clubs and is therefore considered less stressful than the German Bundesliga. In addition, Uščins in France benefits from a tax regulation for skilled workers from abroad: the so-called impatriés regulation stipulates that 30 percent of the agreed gross salary remains tax-free. According to “Sport Bild”, however, this tax advantage was not the main reason for the change.
For TSV Hannover-Burgdorf, the question of a successor will arise from summer 2027. The former Hanoverian Ivan Martinovic (28), who currently plays for Veszprem in Hungary, and Mateo Maras (25) from Paris Saint-Germain are considered possible candidates.
