One of the most anticipated movie moments of the year is upon us when The devil wears Prada – the sequel to the film will premiere.
The movie that came out twenty years ago was based on by Lauren Weisberger to a successful novel. The comedy, directed by David Frankel, followed how newly graduated Andrea “Andy” Sachs (Anne Hathaway) gets a job as a secretary at a fashion magazine called Runway, piloted by the cold-blooded editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep).
Iltalehti previewed the film’s sequel, which will be released in cinemas on May 1. We compiled five things you need to know about the new movie.
1. One of the characters is missing
Fans of the original film can heave a sigh of relief as all the main characters will also be seen in the sequel. One of the characters, on the other hand, shines through his absence, namely Andy’s toxic boyfriend Nate (Adrian Grenier).
The actor himself regretted not being able to participate in the sequel. He even ponderedthat the negative feelings evoked by the character in the viewers could have been the reason for the end of the production.
Director David Frankel explained by Entertainment Weekly in an interview that he tried to get the actor to do a cameo role, but the schedule was too tight in the end.
This time, Australian actor Patrick Brammall has been cast in the role of the comic, who plays the charming Peter.

2. Midlife crisis
In the first film, Andy was a young journalist who had just graduated, who was a little lost with his life, like probably quite a lot of viewers in their twenties who saw the film in 2006.
In the sequel, Andy’s life situation is completely different. He is an award-winning and respected journalist whose life is turned upside down by his dismissal. However, love life is still as challenging as before. It’s easy to relate to a character who is in the middle of a career and going through mid-life crises, and that makes the film even more personal.

3. Visual fireworks
The sequel will treat viewers with spectacular fashion creations. Miranda’s clothes in particular play with shapes and materials. One of the most amazing outfits is seen right at the beginning of the film, when the editor-in-chief arrives at the gala in a spectacular red evening dress.
Andy’s wardrobe has also experienced a clear change: the insecure and not so fashion-conscious girl has grown into a confident adult woman who has found her own style.
In the new film, we see some really spectacular outfits. PDO
4. Lady Gaga’s brilliance
The singer Lady Gaga is known for her personal style, so it was not a big surprise that Popiko has been included in the film. Lady Gaga plays herself in the film, although the performance is very brief. Despite this, the pop star has been written very catchy lines that stick in the viewer’s mind.
Those who like Lady Gaga’s music are in for a treat, as she has collaborated with rap artist Doechii Runwayfor the film of a song called The song is backed by a top-class author team, which includes singer-songwriter Bruno Mars, among others.
5. A real surprise
Many certainly expect Miranda to continue as a cold and hungry boss, but the winds of change are blowing for her as well. Of course, at the beginning of the film, it seems that the zebra can’t get rid of its stripes.
However, the viewer experiences a real surprise, because a much more sensitive side of Miranda is seen than twenty years ago. At the same time, the relationship between Andy and Miranda gets more layers that move the viewer.
Meryl Streep received an Oscar nomination for the role of Miranda last time. I wouldn’t consider it impossible if the win happened this time.
We see an even more sensitive side of Miranda. All Over Press
