Stefan Horngacher’s move to the Polish Ski Jumping Association is more in jeopardy than ever. According to the outgoing association head Adam Malysz, there is still a “small glimmer of hope” that the association’s new board will wave the deal through. “But the question is whether Stefan wants to wait that long,” Malysz told “Radio ZET” on Friday, expressing doubts about the arrival of the former DSV coach.
According to Malysz, Horngacher “should have been announced today”, but that obviously didn’t happen because the association’s board has still not clearly spoken out in favor of signing the Austrian.
Horngacher has been working for Poland for months
For Malysz, the whole story has long been absurd. As he revealed, Horngacher has been working in the background with the two coaches Maciek Maciusiak and Michal Dolezal for “two months” and is working on a plan for the summer.
“In the last two months, Stefan Horngacher has worked very intensively with Maciek Maciusiak and Michal Dolezal on the complete plan for preparation for the new season,” explained Malysz, who also sees an opportunity in this: “Maybe he could [Horngacher] “It makes it difficult to simply give up working in Poland.”
Will the decision only be made in the summer?
Horngacher, who was probably intended by Malysz as a backup in the event of a separation from the controversial national coach Maciej Maciusiak, is now still on hold.
At a meeting of the association’s top management that lasted several hours on Wednesday, the longest of the Malysz era, according to the Polish media, the decision was made that Maciusiak would remain in office next season.
“Polsat” reported that Horngacher’s hiring in a higher-level role would only be decided after the board election in mid-June. “Especially because it is a costly undertaking. We don’t want to present the new management with a fait accompli,” a participant in the meeting was quoted as saying.
