Victor Vlam finds it really untenable that Talpa continues with Peter Gillis’ program. He doesn’t understand it at all. “Please let’s put an end to this.”
It still hangs over Peter Gillis like one of the many dark clouds: the case about the alleged abuse of his ex-girlfriend Nicol Kremers. The Public Prosecution Service demands a community service of 140 hours, as was recently revealed during the hearing. TV critic Victor Vlam has followed it all and is amazed that John de Mol still wants to do business with that man.
Really intense
Victor finds it unprecedented that a blind eye is being turned. “I have to be very honest, when I faced the facts, I thought: gosh, this is really intense. I mean: it was known for a number of years that there were reports of abuse, but I heard the exact facts this week and I was somewhat shocked.”
He says in the podcast Victor Indicates TV: “These are really serious allegations and the evidence is there too. She was allegedly beaten by him, among other things. He also scratched her legs with a pen because she once didn’t like the food. Gillis also allegedly pushed Nicol against the wall ten times, which caused blood from her mouth and nose.”
Chest
Really bizarre, says Victor. “He also allegedly kicked her forty times in the legs and chest while she was lying on the ground. Wow. That is really intense. It happened during a period of six months, in 2022. It must be said that Peter denies everything and there is no court ruling yet, but I find the evidence quite intense.”
There are photos of a battered Nicol, he emphasizes. “There is also an audio recording, because Nicol panicked so much that she calls 911 and the conversation is automatically recorded. We then hear what happens between them. Peter calls her a cancer whore and Nicol shouts: ‘Ow, ow, Peter, please stop hurting me.’ ‘No!'”
Chalet
Victor finds that ‘all really intense’. “After that call to 112, the police of course went to Peter and Nicol’s chalet. It took three minutes before Peter opened the door, which is of course also very suspicious.”
And then? “The officer found Nicol with her legs and arms locked together, lying face down and with her hair covering her eyes. They also saw a loose earring on the floor. According to Nicol, Peter allegedly ripped it out of her ear.”
Woman beater
So not pure coffee, according to Victor. “Peter is simply a womanizer, if you can believe this evidence. I have to tell you honestly: I am really shocked by what happened here. I find it more intense than I expected and if he is convicted, you can’t seriously continue with Peter Gillis as the star of Massa is Kassa on SBS 6, can you?”
That’s an old discussion, he admits. “But there is a very big difference between being convicted because your permits are not in order and you have committed financial fraud, (…) but for assaulting a woman…”
‘Away with it!’
Talpa has to be firm, if it is up to Victor. “If he is convicted of this, then I really think it should be over and done with. I think the evidence in this case is really clear. Then you should also say: ‘It’s over with Peter Gillis now.’ A wife beater who is in the Christmas promo of SBS 6? I would really find it a very strange thing.”
The verdict is on May 7. “I am very curious to see how Talpa will deal with this. Please let us put an end to it.”
