Di Giannantonio and Morbidelli, both from the VR46 team, were the fastest in this first test session in Spain. The Marquez brothers are far away
There is a lot of fluorescent yellow in the early morning in Spain. “It’s only Friday morning,” Uccio Salucci warned everyone. It’s the refrain of the first day of the grand prix. But as he said it he had a big smile on his face. Because it may be worth little, but it’s always better to start like this than at the back of the group.

So in front of everyone on Friday morning in Jerez there are the two Valentinos, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli. The first confirms a great start to the season, the second is an encouraging surprise. Both had medium tires on the front, as did many others though. So, even though Diggia is still 1″3 from last year’s pole position (of his namesake Quartararo, who knows what nostalgia he will have for it…) these are times that matter. And above all, the gap that Fabio from Rome inflicted on the others matters: 288 thousandths to his partner Morbido, 378 to Alex Marquez third, 393 to Marco Bezzecchi fourth and half a second (542/1000) to Marc Marquez. So to speak that the two great rivals are there, and moreover they didn’t even change the tires at the end of the session, as Diggia did.
Ducati reaction

But most of all this FP1 gave the feeling that Ducati has reacted, that the three weeks of work and the unexpected break have brought something. Davide Tardozzi, Borgo Panigale team manager, said: “It seems like we’re not in a bad situation. During the break we did data analysis and then some tests with Pirro, carrying out both electronic and chassis evaluations. We brought something immediately and we’ll bring something into Monday’s test. We can improve on the electronics. We have to get back to fighting for the podium. Worth noting is a fall for Jorge Martin, betrayed by the cold tyres.
