Normally Piet does not sell from home, so that is new for him. But he is also looking forward to it: “This way people can see where their food comes from,” he says.
Foreign potatoes
Via the website Consumers can order potatoes from Piet and pick them up on April 17 and 18 at his company at Westermiddenmeerweg 10 in Middenmeer. Ordering in advance is important so that the farmer knows what to prepare.
To prevent food waste in the future, Piet knows what needs to change. “We should not put potatoes from abroad in the supermarket if we have a surplus here. Let’s just grow and eat locally, that is more sustainable.”
