The McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Ochtrup is celebrating its 22nd anniversary this year and looks back on successful development as a fixture in regional retail and tourism. The combination of attractive brands, family-friendly offers and continually new event formats makes the center a popular excursion destination in Münsterland for visitors from Germany and the neighboring Netherlands. From April 15th to 18th, the center invites you to celebrate the anniversary together with a diverse program, attractive offers and special promotions.

Experience meets brand strength: The developments of the last two years

Since its 20th anniversary, the Designer Outlet Ochtrup has further consolidated and specifically expanded its position as an attractive shopping and adventure destination. In addition to further developing the brand offering, the focus was particularly on strengthening the experience character: the popular indoor children’s play area “Climbing Castle” was redesigned and continues to offer families an attractive offer, while the mascot “Ochti” was created as an emotional identification figure, which is particularly popular with younger guests. The center is also setting new standards in the area of ​​events: the Halloween campaign days have been successfully developed into an entire month of activities over the past two years and have since become increasingly popular with visitors.

With new openings such as Timberland, FALKE, OPUS, Swarovski, Motel a Miio, US Polo Assn. and protest as well as constantly modernized store concepts such as Hunkemöller, Crocs and Tefal/WMF, the range has been continuously developed and adapted to current trends.

Strong partner of the region: commitment, jobs and tourist appeal

The Designer Outlet Ochtrup has always seen itself as an active partner in the region. The close and trusting cooperation with the city of Ochtrup and numerous local companies forms an important basis. At the same time, as an employer, the center makes an important contribution to local economic development and secures numerous jobs in the region.

Social commitment also plays a central role. A special example is the wish cistern in the center: the 16th emptying since 2015 raised a total of 146,349.48 euros, which will benefit social projects and initiatives. These include, among others, the Lichtblicke e. V. and Together e. V. Refugee Aid Ochtrup but also support associations of various schools such as the Lambertischule. Actions such as the emptying around International Women’s Day underline the center’s social commitment – and show the close connection to the region.

The Designer Outlet Ochtrup also makes a significant contribution to the region’s tourism development: with its combination of shopping, dining and entertainment, the center has established itself as a permanent destination and is a popular stopover for many visitors – not least because of its location on the way to the North Sea holiday region.

What visitors can expect in the future

The Designer Outlet Ochtrup will continue to focus on the continuous development of its offerings and infrastructure in the future. An important component is the expansion of the charging infrastructure for electromobility: 16 e-charging stations are currently being installed in the East parking lot, which are scheduled to be completed in May 2026, and further charging stations are being planned. In this way, the center takes into account the increasing importance of sustainable mobility solutions and at the same time improves the service for visitors.

At the same time, the brand portfolio is also being further developed in a targeted manner. In autumn 2026, visitors can expect, among other things, a new brand in the outdoor sector and women can also look forward to new styles.

“Our aim is to continuously develop the Designer Outlet Ochtrup and position it for the future – both in terms of sustainable infrastructure and an attractive and contemporary brand offering. With targeted additions to the portfolio and a clear focus on quality and service, we create a shopping experience that is geared towards the needs of our visitors. At the same time, our close connection to the region remains a central part of our actions,” says Center Manager Armin Wienker.
