What emotional moments for Marc-André ter Stegen! While things are currently anything but smooth for the German national goalkeeper, the FC Girona goalkeeper has smiles on his face in his private life. On Thursday, he shared this happiness with the world on social media.

The goalkeeper presented a very special picture on Instagram together with his partner Ona Sellarès. A warm hug, a kiss and an ultrasound photo. The message is clear: Ter Stegen and Sellarès are having offspring together for the first time.

Ter Stegen’s partner simply commented on the emotional snapshot: “Lots of love.” There were also prompt reactions from those around the national team in the form of black, red and gold hearts.

Ter Stegen already has two sons from his previous relationship with ex-wife Daniela. He only made his new partnership public last summer – a few months after the separation.

Participation in the World Cup is in serious danger

While things obviously couldn’t be going better privately, the goalkeeper is facing a difficult phase in terms of sport. A thigh injury is currently forcing him to take a break. Another setback that could have serious consequences with a view to the upcoming World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. If ter Stegen doesn’t get fit in time, the 33-year-old won’t be able to take part in the World Cup as Germany’s number one this year either.

Ter Stegen only dared to make a new start in the winter. In order to gain more match practice, he moved from FC Barcelona to FC Girona on loan. But the plan went wrong: He suffered the injury in the second game, which once again set him back a long way. It has long been considered unlikely that he will reach his peak form in time for the start of the World Cup.
