ISLAMABAD (dpa-AFX) – According to security circles, the USA and Iran are in contact about a possible end to the war. Pakistani security circles said that proposals had already been submitted twice between both parties to the conflict this week. Egypt is also involved in efforts to end the war.
The 15-point plan to end the Iran war discusses, among other things, how shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, which is important for global oil trade, will be regulated in the future. One proposal is a joint maritime task force by the USA, Iran, Pakistan and some Gulf states.
However, according to a well-informed source, most of the points address the controversial Iranian nuclear program. Even before the war, Iran and the USA had negotiated this without any concrete results. The lifting of international sanctions and the reconstruction of Iran are also topics.
US media had previously reported on the plan, which is intended to demand major concessions from Iran’s leadership to end the war. Pakistan is considered a possible host if there are new talks between representatives from Tehran and Washington. Officially, Iran’s political and military leadership denies any kind of negotiations with the USA./arb/DP/stw
