If there is any truth to this rumor, then the supposed interest may have been fueled again in a painful way on Sunday. Eintracht Frankfurt is said to be keeping an eye on Paul Nebel from 1. FSV Mainz 05 and thus the player who inflicted a heavy defeat on SGE with a brace on Sunday.
After ten goals and six assists in 31 league games in 2024/25, Paul Nebel found it much harder to get going at 1. FSV Mainz 05 this season. Recently, however, the midfielder’s knot broke again. Much to the chagrin of Eintracht Frankfurt, who would reportedly like to sign the 23-year-old.
With a brace, his third and fourth goals of the season, Nebel single-handedly shot down the Hessians in a 2-1 win on matchday 27 of the German Bundesliga. The former German U21 international has recorded four of his only five scorer points so far since the end of February. According to Turkish transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, people in Frankfurt are quite pleased with this increase.
It is said that the Hessians should think about transferring Nebel. Mainz also have to be open-minded if a club lures them with a lot of money.
Eintracht flirts with a double pack against the SGE
No wonder, Nebel’s contract ends in the summer of 2027. After the current season, it will be the last time you can get a hefty fee if the noble technician doesn’t extend his contract.
For the time being, however, fog is likely to cause bad feelings in Frankfurt: after the German-Irish double, the European Cup places have become more distant for the men from the Main metropolis.
Nebel himself was of course happy about his improved form: “I speculated about the second goal, of course I’m happy, but I would have liked it for Nelly too. A goal like that is pure adrenaline and a great feeling. I’m happy about the development and the praise, I’m bringing my performance again from week to week. I’m back and happy, actually you don’t have to talk about it after every game anymore.”
