(toskanews) — The Finland is the happiest country in the worldfor the ninth consecutive year. The says it World Happiness Report 2026an annual report promoted by the United Nations that considers six factors: GDP per capita, life expectancy, social support, freedom of choice, ability to rely on others and perception of corruption. Italy is in 38th place.

The northern countries are still the happiest
The Nordic countries dominate the ranking, with Iceland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway which, together with Finland, they occupy five of the top six positions this year. The Costa Rica ranked fourth, entering the top five for the first time and reaching the best placing ever for a Latin American country. Last theAfghanistandevastated by the return of the Taliban and the war.
The report takes into account a three-year averagein order to reduce the peaks caused by wars or other extreme events: perhaps this partly explains theeighth place Israel (against Iran’s 97th place and Lebanon’s 141st, among the last positions).
Among the developed countries United States they rank in number 23rd place, the Great Britain at the 29th, theIreland at the 13th, the Germany at the 17th, the France at the 35th (three places ahead of Italy) and the Spain in 41st (three places later).
