Catherine Keyl (79) is very concerned about the escalated situation in the Middle East. She doesn’t know whether we are still safe in the Netherlands. “This can’t continue like this, can it?” she says.
The unrest in the Middle East is also causing panic among some Dutch celebrities. There are stars who fear that at some point we will no longer be safe either. One of them is Catherine Keyl. “I find it all very intense,” she says Weekend. “This can’t continue like this, can it? Something will happen in the Netherlands today or tomorrow.”
Catherine worried
Catherine hopes she won’t have to experience that again at her age. “Then you wonder: should we just allow all this to happen without our will? I have no idea whether it will really come to this. I can’t really say anything sensible about it anymore. The world has become so completely unreliable and unpredictable.”
She is critical of Donald Trump suddenly entering into all kinds of conflicts. “All rules are being flouted, international law no longer seems to matter and agreements are not being fulfilled. Then I think to myself: what is this?”
Canned food
Catherine has not panicked to such an extent that she is filling her entire pantry, she emphasizes. “In any case, I haven’t stocked up on any extra provisions or anything. No, I’ll notice it automatically.”
She concludes: “I think it is a self-fulfilling prophecy could be: if everyone thinks it’s happening, then maybe it will happen. So I choose to think it won’t happen.”
