Internal solution at Red Bull

Red Bull resolves the coaching issues in Salzburg completely internally. Former Munich and Hoffenheim coach Danny Galm takes over the position at training club FC Liefering after Daniel Beichler was promoted from there to the Bundesliga team. The stumbling block of this castling was the release of former Bochum player Thomas Letsch, who was relieved of his duties as coach of the Bulls after a mixed year.
Galm, who has a contract until the summer of 2028, is the “ideal solution” at FC Liefering, explained sports director Bernhard Seonbuchner. He thanked his predecessor Beichler for his commitment. “Above all, he has had a decisive influence on many young players on their way to professional football,” said the official about Beichler, who can now try out for the Bundesliga team. Seonbuchner added: “We are proud that a coach from our academy is once again making it to FC Red Bull Salzburg.” The Graz native has been a youth coach for the Red Bull teams since 2021, and the 37-year-old has looked after the FC Liefering team since 2024.
His 39-year-old successor Galm has been active as U18 coach in the Salzburg academy since July 2025, after he last had a less than successful four months in Germany in 2023 at SV Sandhausen. The native of Lower Franconia earned his spurs for years as a youth coach at TSG Hoffenheim and FC Bayern Munich.
Galm wants to use Beichler’s base at FC Liefering
“He knows the principles, the processes and the path of player development in our system,” said manager Seonbuchner, explaining Galm’s promotion to head coach of the second division club. “Danny has already worked very successfully with the U18s this season and at the same time brings valuable experience from the top German and international youth and professional sectors. We are convinced that he will seamlessly continue the positive development of the team.”
Galm said about his promotion: “I’m very happy about the trust and the new task. FC Liefering stands for development, courageous football and clear principles – that’s exactly what I want to build on. Together with the staff, we want to use the good foundation that has been laid in the last few months and consistently continue on the path: with intensity, clarity and the courage to take the next steps forward.”
