In Amstelveen, recruiters were seen at at least one hotel where refugees are received who wanted to get Ukrainian women into prostitution.
That is what those involved in the reception say in a broadcast of the program ‘Dijkstra and Evenblij on the spot’ of NPO Radio 1.
In Amstelveen, 470 people are currently being accommodated in the Ibis Hotel and the Adagio Aparthotel. The coordination of the reception is in the hands of the Maccabi Foundation. Laura Renberg of the foundation says in the broadcast: “The municipality of Amstelveen called us: ‘We can’t handle the large flow of refugees for a while. Can you accept a number of refugees in the hotel?’ Within an hour there were three hundred refugees.”
doctor’s post
Renberg proudly continues about how she provides care in the hotels with a group of volunteers. In the meantime, a doctor’s post has even been set up, led by assistant physician Lester van Ravenswade.
Unfortunately, he sees that the shelter also attracts people with the wrong intentions, such as men who give the appearance of wanting to recruit women for prostitution. “A car that is too big in front of the door with a too vague story why it hangs too often in the hotel and appeals to all young women”, he describes these types of figures.
no good intentions
Renberg adds: “Several people have already been kicked out of the hotel who did not have the right intentions.”
According to her, the hotel where this took place intervened in time and people were given the right help, but it hurts that these kinds of things happen. “We have arranged so much for them here and it is just good here and then it is abused,” Renberg said in the radio program.
