Greczula’s Melodifestivalen performance went wrong due to a technical fault.
Although the performance failed, Greczula made it to the finals. AOP
The Swedish Eurovision Song Contest Melodifestivalen started today. They competed in the first round GreczulaJacqueline, Zero2, Junior Lerin, Indra and A*Teens.
Anything can happen in a live broadcast, and it was also proven at Melodifestivalen. Greczula’s performance did not go as planned. He competes with a song Half of Me.
The Swedish singer was supposed to rise in the air at the end of the song, holding on to an iron pipe. At the same time, there was a large amount of pyrotechnics in the background. It has been estimated that it would even be the most record-setting pyrotechnic display in the history of Melodifestivalen.
However, during the live broadcast in front of millions of people, the pipe lowered from the ceiling did not land on the stage and the final scene failed. The artist danced and spun on stage until the end of the song. So the iron pipe got stuck in the roof of the arena and the show went wrong in that respect.
Despite the setback, Greczula was the first to make it to the Melodifestivalen final.

SVT commented
Aftonbladet reached the project manager responsible for Melodifestivalen of the Swedish broadcasting company SVT Anders Wistbacken to comment on the situation.
According to Wistbacka, the situation is what it is, and Greczula must not appear again.
– Anything can happen in a live broadcast. Unfortunately, Greczula’s hoist got stuck in the ceiling and we couldn’t get it down. We apologize for this and are looking into what went wrong. There will be no renewal, he said.
The final of Melodifestivalen takes place on March 7.
