The personnel situation in central defense is getting worse at Werder Bremen. As the Green-Whites announced, Amos Pieper will not be available for the time being. The 28-year-old suffered a deep flesh wound on his right knee in the 1-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday and had to undergo minor surgery.
“As Amos had complained of major problems with his knee, further examinations were carried out during which an infection was discovered, which made the operation necessary. Fortunately, no structural damage to the knee was found. We hope that Amos will get fit again as quickly as possible. However, he will not be available for several weeks,” said coach Horst Steffen.
In addition to Pieper, the Bremen team is also missing Maximilian Wöber (muscular problems) and Niklas Stark (hip problems) in the defense center, which is why “Bild” is speculating about whether the Hanseatic team will be active in the transfer market in this position again by Deadline Day on Monday.
