The outdoor outfitter Ortovox Sportartikel GmbH has filled additional management positions. On Tuesday, the mountain sports specialist announced the appointment of Sibylle Egele as Director Product. The company said she took over the position at the beginning of January and is now responsible for the brand’s product strategy. Egele had previously worked for the Oberalp Group for 14 years and was most recently responsible for the soft goods category of the Dynafit brand as Product Director.
At Ortovox, she succeeded Michael Sieber as Product Manager, who took over the management of the newly structured Wholesale & Services division as Director. “In this role, he is responsible for the global wholesale business as well as the areas of Customer Service and Lifecycle Services & Repair,” the company explained. The aim is to “further develop the international wholesale business, increase the brand’s visibility in relevant markets, sustainably expand cooperation with trading partners and distributors, and continue to professionalize the contact points between the brand and partner and shape the future together.”
The company also announced that Falko Schmidt has been working as Head of Development Apparel since October 1st last year. He therefore has “around 20 years of experience in the international sporting goods industry”.
Schmidt was most recently employed as Global Head of Testing at the Swiss running shoe specialist On; before that, he held various positions at Adidas and Reebok on several continents. In his new role at Ortovox, his focus is now “on high-quality, functional product development as well as on the further development of teams and resource-saving development processes,” according to a statement.
CEO Stefan Kohlbauer explained the personnel decisions. “With these personnel changes, we are sending a clear signal about the future direction of Ortovox,” he explained in a statement. “We are pleased to have gained proven industry experts for Ortovox in Sibylle Egele and Falko Schmidt and to drive the brand forward together with their experience and expertise.”
