The heavy vehicle overturned and then caught fire, also involving two cars. The A14 toll booth is closed. The truck driver was injured
Three vehicles involved, a tanker carrying flammable liquid and two cars, are the toll of a vast fire that broke out shortly after 12pm on Thursday 18 June a few meters from the Riccione motorway toll booth on the A14.
What happened
—
The flames generated by the fire of the tanker, which apparently overturned and lost its load, gave rise to a dense column of black smoke visible from kilometers away and from theme parks such as Aquafan and Oltremare which are located on the hill right in front of the motorway station which has been closed since 12.30 in both directions. The Fire Brigade intervened on site for the extinguishing operations, together with the medical and mechanical rescue services, the Traffic Police patrols and the Autostrade staff. Three vehicles were involved in the fire, presumably caused by the flammable liquid dispersed on the asphalt: the tanker and two cars. The drivers of the two cars, as far as we know, remained unharmed while the driver of the tanker was not seriously injured and classified as code 2.
