Victor Vlam must have said something behind the scenes of Today Inside that touched the ego of Wilfred Genee and René van der Gijp, opinion maker Harry Vermeegen suspects. “That’s why out!”
It is undeniable that Victor Vlam is perhaps the most talked-about television guest at the moment, but he is no longer welcome on Today Inside. The TV critic was there four times last year, but according to Johan Derksen, his colleagues Wilfred Genee and René van der Gijp do not like him and are blocking his arrival.
Victor comes to blows
Wilfred himself states that Victor is very well made, but the TV expert finds the criticism lame. In the meantime, Victor is still welcome on two other popular programs on SBS 6, namely the Oranje talk show by Hélène Hendriks and the evening program Nieuws van de Dag.
Just before the weekend, Victor got into a verbal altercation with some driver there. Opinion maker Harry Vermeegen is enthusiastic about this. “I saw that Victor Vlam there and he straight-up attacked an annoying GroenLinks councilor from Amsterdam. He didn’t give up and he attacked Vlam. Great!”
“Which way?”
Harry thinks Victor makes exciting TV. “I also moved forward a little in my chair, like: well, now it’s getting interesting, you know,” he continues on his opinion channel. “That Flame has a bit of that about it.”
“He is a bit of a talented left winger in a football team, so that when he gets the ball, everyone in the stadium sits up for a moment, like: whoa, but now something is going to happen, you know. That. When he takes the floor, you think: whoa, which way is it going? And so they no longer want that Victor Vlam at Today Inside.”
Boycott
According to Harry, the VI boycott is laughable. “Yes, how do you think about him? And that’s mainly because of René and Gijp. Those two have decided: that Flame will no longer be allowed in. Well, yes! That’s because they find him irritating and annoying. That’s what he is! That’s what he is! So what?”
“He has everything hanging on his bike, which is probably not nice, because he is of course also a bit pedantic, because he is very convinced of himself, our Flame, and he is also quite arrogant. But who cares? It’s about the end result! It’s about the end result of the broadcast!”
Tension
Victor certainly keeps the tension going, according to Harry. “People enjoy seeing that he brings tension to a broadcast and confuses people with comments and puts things on edge in one go. It can just happen and that is his role.”
What does he think is going on? “Of course he made the wrong comment behind the scenes to that Genee or to that Gijp and they of course immediately said: ‘He won’t be allowed in anymore!’ Ha. That’s how it happened. But I think I speak for many followers of Today Inside when I say: get that Flame back!”
