At Eintracht Braunschweig, Sebastian Polter usually only plays the role of a supplementary player. Now there is speculation about a move to Serbia.

Go Eintracht Braunschweig and striker Sebastian Polter went their separate ways after a year and a half? According to the Serbian portal Maxbet Sport, the Serbian leaders Partizan Belgrade have put out feelers for the Eintracht attacker and have even submitted an offer for the 34-year-old.

The Serbian top club has to replace its striker Jovan Milosevic in the second half of the season, who was loaned out to Werder Bremen from VfB Stuttgart.

According to the “Braunschweiger Zeitung”, the BTSV should look into this offer. An early departure for Polters, who is contractually bound to the club until the end of the season, is therefore within the realm of possibility.

The former professional from Schalke 04, VfL Bochum and Union Berlin came to Braunschweig in the summer of 2024. Since then he has played 40 competitive games for the professionals, scoring three goals and providing four more goals. Under coach Heiner Backhaus, Polter only plays a minor role in sport and usually has to line up behind the established Erencan Yardımcı. In the current season he has made eleven competitive appearances, but mostly only as a joker.

The Braunschweigers are also looking for a new striker after Christian Conteh’s departure to Bundesliga club 1. FC Heidenheim. “Heidenheim didn’t steal the player (Conteh), but paid money for him. And I think we still have the money. We still have to do something, especially in the offensive area,” confirmed Coach Backhaus at the press conference before the home game against 1. FC Magdeburg (Friday, 6.30 p.m. / Sky).

Also an issue is, after Midfielder Anas Bakhat to also sign the second test player of this winter. Central defender Mark Mampassi from Lokomotiv Moscow “did great” in the trial training, said Backhaus. “He is highly talented and has already made his mark in training in terms of aggressiveness and speed. He has good game-building skills.” If it were up to him, said the coach, “I would like to make the transfer.”

But there is still a catch: “He had an injury. We went to the medical check and are having it checked again. We don’t want to do anything wrong,” said Backhaus. The 22-year-old Mampassi was born in Ukraine and was signed by Lokomotiv Moscow for a sum of millions shortly before the attack on Ukraine. He was then loaned out to Turkish club Antalyaspor and Belgian club KV Kortrijk.
