A new special version of the iconic American muscle car makes its debut, ready to act as a “link” between the already well-known Dark Horse and the extreme Gtd. To reveal it to the world, a video starring F1 driver Max Verstappen
It fell to the four-time world champion Max Verstappen the privilege of being the first to lead the Ford Mustang Dark Horse SCnew high-performance version of the American muscle car par excellence. As well as, to date, the only one to keep a V8 engineafter the farewell of the Chevrolet Camaro and the transition to the V6 Hurricane (and also 100% electric) of the Dodge Charger. Specifically, what drives the new Dark Horse SC is a more “pushed” configuration of Ford’s V8, the 5.2 liter Predator of displacement and supercharged, for which at the moment the manufacturer has not yet declared power and performance. However, we are talking about an engine that on the previous Shelby GT500 had reached up to 760 HP.

In addition to the engine, to improve the track skills of the new SC, the house of Dearborn has chosen to adopt numerous improvements on a technical level developed thanks to the experience gained with the Mustang Gtd, the brutal special version closely related to the car fielded by Ford in GT3 class of the World Endurance Championship. This is where the decision to adopt, for example, comes from Brembo carbon-ceramic braking systemcombined with four visible carbon fiber rims and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, semi-slick at the top of the French manufacturer’s range. Magnetorheological suspensions MagnaRide have been developed with a specific calibration, the tracks are widened by 2.5 cm and new anti-roll bars make their debut.

The aesthetic differences compared to a normal Ford Mustang Dark Horse are evident. The front bonnet gains an enormous air vent, while at the rear a generous spoiler debuts which alone guarantees 281 kg of downforce at a speed of 290 km/h. For greater usability on the track, the traction control is adjustable to five different levels, from maximum assistance to total deactivation. The innovations in the cockpit are more limited, where the same is adopted steering wheel of the Mustang Gtdcombined with Recaro sports front seats, while the second row has been removed to further save weight.

The world premiere debut of the new Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC took place during a video published on Ford’s YouTube channel, in which three drivers from the Red Bull school, Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo And Arvid Lindblad they got behind the wheel of the most significant sports cars produced by the Blue Oval in the last hundred years. From the Sweepstakes from 1901, a racing car created by Henry Ford to attract investors into his company, up to the most recent innovation, the Mustang Dark Horse SC. In between, fundamental chapters in Ford history such as the iconic GT40 winner in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the RS200 protagonist of rallies in the era of Group B and the Fiesta Wrc winner of the 2017 World Rally Championship with Sebastien Ogier.
