Pharell Hensel (18) came onto the field at VfL Wolfsburg four times this season for short substitute appearances in the Bundesliga, and the Lower Saxony team has now announced a contract extension with the midfield talent from their own youth ranks. The Wolfsburg native has a professional contract until 2029. He has appeared 55 times in the club’s U19 team to date.
“Pharell has earned this contract with hard work, great identification and strong performances over many years,” explained sports director Pirmin Schwegler. “He grew up with VfL and is an example of our approach to sustainably training talent from the VfL academy for our licensed player area. We see great development potential in him and are pleased that he will take his next steps with us.”
Hensel, who is described in the club’s announcement as a “real Wolfsburg native”, said: “I am incredibly proud and grateful to be able to sign my first professional contract with VfL. For me, this is a dream come true: VfL is my footballing home, and I can’t imagine a better place to develop further. The professional contract is a huge incentive for me to continue to work hard and give everything for this club.”
