These regional figures fit into a broader Flemish trend. Across Flanders, a total of 271,072 vacancies were reported directly to VDAB in 2025, ten percent less than the previous year. “Demand via employment and selection agencies did increase,” it says. Temporary employment assignments increased by ten percent, while recruitment and selection agencies recorded an increase of 13 percent.
Many vacancies were reported directly, especially in business services, social services and education. Three out of four vacancies offered permanent work. In six out of ten cases, employers looked for medium- or highly-skilled profiles, a share comparable to that of 2024.
