Emma Aicher in the slalom in Kranjska Gora

As of: January 12, 2026 3:31 p.m

Emma Aicher is impressive in the slalom this winter. Lena Dürr made a mistake recently, but wants to be at the forefront again.

Slalom and Emma Aicher? That fits! The 22-year-old is performing better than ever in the zigzag this season. She has finished in the top ten four times and even landed on the podium twice. She has never achieved this in any season before.

The night slalom in Flachau awaits the German-Swede on Tuesday. The sports show will stream the race from 5:45 p.m., the second round starts at 8:45 p.m.

Dürr: No more wobbles

Together with her teammate Lena Dürr, she wants to attack the podium again. Things haven’t gone quite as well for Dürr as they have for Aicher recently. The 33-year-old slalom specialist missed out on a top placement with eleventh place in Kranjska Gora and 17th place in Semmering.

The season started so promisingly. She appeared to be in Olympic form early in the season with a fourth-place finish in Levi and a second-place finish in Copper Mountain.

The little wobbles of the past few weeks should now be a thing of the past. Dürr wants to be at the forefront again at the night slalom in Flachau. She showed three years ago that she was keen on the Hermann Maier World Cup course. At that time she came third, only having to admit defeat to the winner Petra Vlhova and Mikaela Shiffrin.

Will the knot break in Flachau?

Her podium finish in Flachau was also the start of successful weeks in which she even celebrated her first and so far only World Cup victory of her career.

A series that she would certainly have no objection to now, shortly before the Olympic Games. Because the slalom in Flachau is the penultimate one before the games.

The measure of all things will once again be Mikaela Shiffrin. The American dominated the slalom like no other this season. But she isn’t unbeatable either.

This was evident at the last World Cup in Kranjska Gora. Victory there went to the Swiss Camille Rast, with Shiffrin coming second.
