For Tessa Wullaert it was her sixth Golden Shoe in ten editions on Sunday. She was previously the best in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024. The 32-year-old Wielsbeekse has been the driving force behind Belgian women’s football for a whole decade and also had an excellent year in 2025. In 27 games for Inter Milan she scored fifteen goals, but she showed her talent again especially in the service of the Red Flames.
She scored ten times in fourteen international matches. She improved her numbers with the national team. The Flames’ all-time top scorer now has 97 goals in 152 international matches. Only record international (and two-time Golden Boot) Janice Cayman has more caps (170). Wullaert scored important goals in the Nations League matches against Spain, England (2x) and Portugal (2x) last year and was also a bright spot for the Belgian women at the disappointing European Championships in Switzerland. In the unnecessary final group match against Portugal, which the Belgians won 2-1, she scored the opening goal.
Last autumn, she also scored three times in two matches against Ireland in the play-off matches for retention in the Nations League, but that was not enough to save the day.
