Marco Borsato has been acquitted of fornication with an underage girl, but his complainant and her mother are dissatisfied? What are they going to do? Would you like to sit with Eva Jinek? “It could be.”

Marco Borsato’s many years of cancellation have a bitter aftertaste now that the folk singer has been acquitted of indecent charges. His counter-declaration of defamation still stands and the big question is: what will happen to it? Does the singer want his complainant Asmara T. and her mother Nathalie T. (the former chairman of his fan club) convicted?

Three options

Shownieuws reporter Janine Schuinder points out that there is still uncertainty. “Well, he was acquitted and there will be no appeal, so that case is completely closed, but of course there was still a defamation case. Marco immediately filed a counter-report, but the Public Prosecution Service wanted to wait with that case until the case was closed.”

She continues in the show section: “There are three options: if Marco wants to go through with it and the Public Prosecution Service does too, then it will happen. Marco wants it and the Public Prosecution Service does not, then he can start an Article 12 procedure. And the last option is: if Marco does not want it, but the Public Prosecution Service does, because it is in the public interest. That is also possible.”

Beautiful

Presenter Dyantha Brooks thinks Marco will drop this case. “I think Marco really wants to put it behind him and start the year clean.”

The Public Prosecution Service says it has not yet made a decision. What does Marco want? “Couldn’t it also be the case that he might want to wait and see whether the mother and the ‘victim’ will give another interview?”, says celebrity expert Bart Ettekoven.

Janine: “That could be possible. It is of course also special, because the mother and the complainant really wanted to appeal.”

Resentment

Asmara and Nathalie may now want to get their money’s worth in a different way. “They are dissatisfied with the ruling, so they still have some kind of resentment and they might give an interview. He thinks: I want to wait and see about that,” says Bart.

Janine: “That could indeed be possible.”

In that case it will be even more exciting: which talk show will Marco get and which program will give the bitter opponent a platform? In any case, the threat of an interview could encourage Marco to have Eva Jinek book him as soon as possible. If he gets her along as the main talk show lady, it would help him a lot…
