The German stars Leroy Sané and Ilkay Gündogan missed their first title win with Galatasaray.

The champion and cup winner lost the final of the Turkish Super Cup 0:2 (0:1) against city rivals Fenerbahce. Matteo Guendouzi (28th) and Jayden Oosterwolde (48th) scored for the team of German-Italian coach Domenico Tedesco in the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.

The German national player Sané, who still has hopes of being nominated for the World Cup in the summer by national coach Julian Nagelsmann, was in the starting line-up and was substituted shortly before the end. Former DFB captain Gündogan only came into action in the 72nd minute. Sané and Gündogan moved to Gala last summer.

Galatasaray qualified for the final with a 4-1 win against Trabzonspor. Fenerbahce made it to the final with a 2-0 win against Samsunspor. Fener is currently in second place in the league, three points behind Galatasaray.
