A protection zone of 3 kilometers and a surveillance zone of 10 kilometers have been established around the company. Within the widest zone, all keepers must shield their poultry. Within the 3 km zone, this obligation also applies to other birds.
In addition to infections in professional and private keepers, many infections are also found in wild birds. The FASFC warns that dead or sick birds should not be touched.
Bird flu is a highly contagious viral disease to which almost all bird species are susceptible. The severity of the disease varies per animal and depends on the virus strain, the environment and any other infections. Infection in humans is exceptional.
