FC Bayern star player announces departure

Georgia Stanway has been one of FC Bayern’s top performers for three and a half years. But in the summer she wants to go new ways.
Georgia Stanway will leave German double winners FC Bayern after the end of the season. The Munich women announced this on Saturday. Accordingly, the English European champion will not extend her contract after four years and will dedicate herself to a new challenge. Stanway moved to FCB in 2022.
“I’m incredibly grateful to FC Bayern for the past few years,” said Stanway, who won three championships, a DFB Cup and two Super Cup titles in Munich: “And fortunately my time here is not over yet. The decision to leave Munich and my team was incredibly difficult, I definitely didn’t make it easy for myself.”
For Bianca Rech, director of women’s football at FC Bayern, Stanway “not only made history but also won hearts” as the first English player at FC Bayern. […] We talked a lot and openly about her future, and when she told us that she wanted to try something new again, her motives were absolutely understandable.”
So far, Stanway, who won her second European title with the “Lionesses” last summer, has appeared in 109 games for Bayern, in which the midfielder scored 28 goals. “I will give absolutely everything for FC Bayern and our sporting success until the last day – just like I did for the last three and a half years,” announced the 27-year-old: “And at the end of the season I want to say goodbye to the club and the fans with as many titles as possible.”
