The German Football League (DFL) canceled the match on Friday afternoon after intensive discussions between the clubs, the stadium operator and the authorities.
The reason for the cancellation is significant slippery conditions in the circulation areas, spectator areas and traffic areas in the Weser Stadium as well as significant snow drifts in large parts of the stadium area, Werder announced.
Based on current forecasts, it cannot be guaranteed that a situation can be created at the start of the game that meets the safety requirements of a Bundesliga game.
