After some rain and wet snow in the afternoon, it will snow lightly in most places this evening. “The temperature is dropping and will be around or just below freezing tonight,” says Visser. “This could result in a snow cover again.”

The winter precipitation will continue tonight, but that picture will change tomorrow. According to Visser, it will remain largely dry and the sun will even appear later in the day.

Despite the lack of snow, it can get quite cold on the weekend. In the night leading up to Sunday there is a chance of severe frost and temperatures may locally drop below -5 degrees, with peaks of up to -10 degrees. Sunday during the day will be dry with periods of sunshine.

Much warmer after the weekend

After the weekend ‘King Winter will pack his bags’, according to Visser. Less cold air will then pass over the province.

There is still a chance of freezing rain locally on Monday, but from Tuesday the temperature will rise to around 6 to 7 degrees, possibly even slightly higher.
