At the W15 tournament in Norway’s capital Oslo, two German tennis talents continue to cause a stir: 19-year-old Ann Akasha Ceuca surprisingly put one of the most promising newcomers in her place, while 15-year-old Isabella Angelina Abendroth underlined the strong impression she left in her first appearances on the tour.
The 16-year-old Brit Hannah Klugman is undoubtedly one of the greatest talents on the WTA tour; in 2025, Klugman was even in the main draw of the All England Championships in Wimbledon. The number 655 in the WTA world rankings has already celebrated several notable successes on the ITF tour – but Ann Akasha Ceuca did not allow herself to be intimidated by this on Thursday – and followed up on Friday.
The 19-year-old DTB hopeful defeated Klugmann 6:2 and 7:6 in the round of 16 of the W15 event in Oslo. The German particularly shone with a strong first serve, while Klugman was slowed down significantly by a total of nine double faults.
Ceuca, who celebrated her first victory on the ITF tour in Kayseri, Turkey (W15) in 2025, can now seriously dream of her second coup.
Because on Friday Ceuca followed up with the next victory against the top-seeded Briton Amelia Rajecki (number 452 in the world rankings). Number 743 in the WTA ranking surprisingly won 6:2, 1:6 and 6:4 and is now in the semi-finals.
Abendroth has no problems
There could be a German duel with Isabella Angelina Abendroth. The 15-year-old, who had no problems with the Uzbek Sevil Yuldasheva in the round of 16 after her surprise win against Katerina Tsygourova from Switzerland (number 546 in the world rankings), has a tricky match against the Swede Linea Bajraliu (number 912 in the world rankings) on the agenda in the round of the last eight.
Should Abendroth prevail, she would face Ceuca in the semi-finals and achieve her best result on the ITF tour to date.
