If Anita Witzier is affected by the cuts at the public broadcaster, John de Mol does not have to call her. She refuses to work for SBS 6. “You belong to that club after all.”
Anita Witzier (64) is relatively old and is no longer a crowd puller, so she runs a serious risk that the cuts in public broadcasting will also affect her. Yet she says she is not that worried. “No, I have a lot of other work besides TV, so I am not dependent on making programs at all,” she says in Weekend.
‘Doesn’t touch me’
Nowadays we occasionally see Anita advertising cosmetic treatments, but what else does she do? “I am a trainer, I have many chairmanships. I am now 64 years old, it is very different for me than it would have been ten years ago. So it does not affect me personally.”
The presenter is approaching her retirement age. “Do you understand? So for me the impact of the cuts is much less than for young colleagues. But also for editors and directors.”
‘Next question!’
The Weekend is curious what Anita’s plan is if the NPO kicks her out. “What if RTL now comes around the corner to see if you are interested in making a program for them?”
She answers: “What should I do there that suits me? I really wouldn’t know. That’s a passerby. Next question.”
“Oof, no!”
When asked whether SBS 6 is an option, Anita freaks out. “Phew! No! Then I’ll stop working completely! Hahaha! No… Well, I see programs there and I think: that really doesn’t suit me. And then you belong to that club, I guess. That seems annoying to me.”
She is clearly referring to the VI club. “That club is probably very nice and good. Very nice people work there. But programs are also made and broadcast of which I think: that is not my DNA at all. Then I shouldn’t want to be part of that, I think. That may be very principled, but yes. No, completely passed over stations!”
