That debt burden would mean the end for more than 400 players. But the dads intervened and presented their new policy to members in the football club canteen last night. Matti Vandemaele, new board member of KdNS Heule: “We have chosen not to let the club go bankrupt. This way we can let our children, ladies and gentlemen, play, otherwise they would not be able to finish the season. We thought it was important that we could continue, also this season. But that does imply that we will take over the debts.”

From deep valley

What the dads have to put right after years of mismanagement is hallucinating: a well of 80,000 euros, no accounting, an administrative mess, no insurance and promises that have never been kept. But thanks to the dads, the club is now climbing out of a deep valley. Jurgen Laverge, new board member of KdNS Heule: “I hope it is a relief for many people that they finally get a clear picture of the situation. The intention is for us to become completely transparent, which was not the case in the past. That caused a lot of anxiety.”
