THEthe completely whitewashed naturalistic oasis of Colfioritowith large portions of water transformed into sheets of ice: this is the spectacle offered by the plateau on the border between Umbria and Marche, close to the Apennines, after the abundant and heavy snowfall that fell on January 6th.
In the Colfiorito Natural Park – also known as the Colfiorito swamp – lThe water in the oasis is frozen for large stretches, a condition that has not occurred for some years. In some areas the surface is completely covered by a thick sheet of ice, while in others the water has remained free: the aquatic animals that populate the protected area have taken refuge right here.
Despite the snowfall, the road system on the plateau of the municipality of Foligno is currently good and numerous families have reached the park to enjoy the spectacle of nature, including snow, frozen water and wildlife.
