Over the past fourteen years, the average length of stay in Belgian hospitals has fallen from six to five days. This was evident from a study by the Federal Knowledge Center for Healthcare (KCE) on Thursday. Most hospitals are shortening their length of stay and are performing more and more procedures as day cases, but this does not lead to additional risks, the knowledge center says.
