“The last dance”: With these words Millonarios FC announced the return of Colombia legend Radamel Falcao on Wednesday. After six months without a club, the 39-year-old striker is signing a contract with the 16-time champions from the capital Bogotá for the third time.
In his first two seasons in the Finalización 2024 and Apertura 2025, Falcao and Millonarios narrowly missed reaching the championship final. He scored eleven goals in 29 games. Last summer he decided against an extension after previously being banned for four games for an outburst over refereeing performance throughout the season at the press conference after the final game. He still has to serve this sentence now.
Falcao was trained in the youth ranks at River Plate in Argentina and made the jump to the professionals there. At the age of 23, he moved to Europe to play for FC Porto, followed by stints at top clubs such as Atlético Madrid, AS Monaco, Man United and Chelsea. A total of 103 million euros were paid in transfer fees for his transfers. Millonarios was the first stop in his home country of Colombia and will probably remain the only one.
