Manager of De Karstenhoeve Petra Hessels has already cleaned several carpets and rugs in the snow. “It’s an old habit, from grandmother’s time,” she says. According to Hessels, the carpets are easier to clean when it is cold. “After cleaning, I could see in the snow what dirt was left behind. It is also good for the rugs, it makes them more beautiful.”
The rugs are on tables in the museum all year round, so they catch a lot of attention. It is also not every year that there is a lot of snow, so this was a great opportunity for the museum to thoroughly clean the rugs.
