My friends and I enthusiastically dig through the stuff from a thrift store in a village in Overijssel. Then a gentleman (85+) comes shuffling in, carrying an enormous amount of stuff. My friends and I exchange sad looks. We watch with sorrow as the gentleman hands in all kinds of crockery, furniture and clothing. “That’s a lot of stuff, sir,” notes the thrift store employee. With a huge smile on his face he says: “Yes, that’s what you get when two households merge!”
