A striking one move: SBS 6 already broadcasts Mr. Frank Visser issues a verdict, but now also brings in The Driving Judge. Is work being done secretly to succeed Frank Visser? “74 years!”
SBS 6 brings a real TV classic to your home with De Rijdenderechter. The public broadcaster is stopping the program due to cutbacks and Talpa boss Frans Klein took immediate action. “With the arrival of John Reid and De Rijdenderechter, we will broadcast another valued title within this popular TV genre on our channel in 2026.”
Frank and John
What makes the transfer striking is that Frank Visser, who used to appear in De Rijdenderechter, has been appearing on SBS 6 for years with Mr. Frank Visser Makes Statement. His successor John Reid will now become his colleague. “With John, our team of TV judges has been further strengthened and we show that SBS6 will be the place for legal reality TV in 2026,” say Frans Klein.
The programs will continue to exist side by side, although they will have one important similarity: Viktor Brand will host both titles. John Reid breathes a sigh of relief: “For our participants it is an opportunity to reach a legal solution free of charge. The fact that SBS 6 wants to contribute to this is to their credit.”
‘Seems like fun!’
How does Frank view this? He says in a written response RTL Boulevard: “Seems nice to me, having a colleague there. (…) It’s just like in court. You have several judges, each with their own cases.”
Reporter Aran Bade: “I just spoke to Viktor Brand and I said: ‘Isn’t that the same thing twice?’ He says: ‘Well, you have to look at it this way: every judge has his own character.’ I would say that too.”
74 years old
However, Aran has the idea that SBS 6 is slowly working on the succession of Frank, who is considered the channel’s oldest star after Johan Derksen.
“They may be different cases, but I think: Frank Visser is now 74, and that he may be replaced at some point. That could just happen.”
