Alexander Hack is back on the market. The New York Red Bulls and the 32-year-old German central defender have ended their collaboration with immediate effect. Veteran Hack moved to the MLS club in December 2024 after being without a club for several months. The defender had previously played for Al-Qadsiah FC in Saudi Arabia before both sides mutually terminated the contract, which was originally valid until 2025. At the NYRB, Hack received a working paper for two seasons including an option for another – and, as he once did at Mainz 05, he met coach Sandro Schwarz, who has been out of office since the end of October, as has sports director Jochen Schneider.

Since his arrival, Hack has appeared 25 times in New York, contributing one goal and one assist. Its market value has gradually fallen to 800,000 euros in the recent past. The Memminger player had played 145 times for the zero fives before he left for Saudi Arabia in 2023. “We would like to thank Alexander for his achievements for the club last season,” said NYRB sports director Julian de Guzmán. “We wish him and his family all the best for the next step in his career.”
