1. FC Köln is playing first class again this season. In the news blog on t-online you will find all the important news about the Geißbockheim.
On the 1. FC Cologne A special European Cup evening awaits. The U19 Billy Goats will face Inter Milan in the round of 16 of the Youth League, the Champions League for A-juniors, on February 4th (6 p.m.). As the club announced on Monday, the game will not be played in the Franz Kremer Stadium as usual, but will be moved to the 50,000-seater RheinEnergieStadion.
FC managing director Philipp Liesenfeld says: “After reaching the next round, we in the board and management all agreed that we wanted to celebrate this special sporting success of our academy. By moving to the RheinEnergieStadion, we are honoring the team’s great performance in the competition so far.” Tickets will be available from next Monday (January 12th) starting at five euros.
The 1st FC Cologne is about to make his first signing of the winter: Manchester City central defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey is due to complete his medical check with the Billy Goats on Sunday and travel to the training camp in Spain on Monday.
The 20-year-old was most recently loaned out by City to Celtic Glasgow without success. He is now leaving the Scots with immediate effect – in favor of a new loan to Cologne. As the “Geissblog” reports, Simpson-Pusey is initially tied to FC until the end of the season. The Bundesliga club then has a purchase option.
Due to the injuries to Timo Hübers, Luca Kilian and Joel Schmied as well as the suspension of Rav van den Berg, Cologne needs central defense. It is quite possible that after the talented Simpson-Pusey, who has played six times for City’s professional team under star coach Pep Guardiola, a more established defender will also move to the Rhine.
Luke Kwasniok has to do without new players at 1. FC Köln’s training camp for the time being, but is still hoping for a breath of fresh air. “The world of football is so fast-moving. If you want to bring energy into it, you can only do that through new signings or young players,” says Kwasniok in La Nucia, Spain. There he is now relying on the Cologne talents Mikolaj Marutzki, Yannick Mausehund, Cenny Neumann, Fynn Schenten and Bernie Lennemann, who are part of the training camp squad.
