A GoFundMe campaign aims to save Mickey Rourke from homelessness.
Current paparazzi photos of actor Mickey Rourke are shocking. He is apparently in a miserable condition. He is also on the verge of homelessness and has reportedly accumulated around $60,000 in rent debt. Now fans should come to the rescue with a crowdfunding campaign.
Mickey Rourke and his long fall from grace
The former star’s career began brilliantly in the 80s. He achieved worldwide fame as Kim Basinger’s seducer in the erotic thriller “9 1/2 Weeks”. He also impressed with films like “Angel Heart” and “The Year of the Dragon”. The 80s, however, have passed. Instead of a big Hollywood career, what followed was a bizarre downward spiral. He started a rather unsuccessful career as a boxer, ruined his face and starred in increasingly irrelevant films. In addition, he always had to struggle with his private life.
However, in 2005 he made a comeback: he starred in the films “Sin City” and “The Wrestler” and was even nominated for an Oscar. However, the next crashes and questionable performances were not long in coming.
He was last noticed in April 2025: due to homophobic statements and aggressive behavior, he was kicked out of the English reality format “Celebrity Big Brother”.
Scandal actor now on the verge of homelessness?
The negative headlines aren’t getting any less. The now 73-year-old is apparently on the verge of losing his home in Beverly Grove. He has accumulated around $60,000 in rent debt, which he should have paid off by mid-December. The rent for his accommodation is said to be around $7,000 per month. Apparently Mickey Rourke is now largely penniless, this is reported by “Der Spiegel”.
Now fans of the mime should rush to his help. Liya-Joelle Jones, a good friend of the actor and apparently also part of his management, has decided to take drastic action: she set up a GoFundMe crowdfunding page to collect donations for the former boxer. “Support Mickey to Prevent Eviction – says the title of the call for donations.
“Mickey is going through a very difficult time right now”
Recently taken paparazzi photos also show how bad things are for him. Neglected and bare, he can be seen on his doorstep collecting delivery bags full of food. “Mickey is going through a very difficult time, and it’s incredibly moving to see how many people care about him and want to help him,” Liya-Joelle Jones told The Hollywood Reporter.
The text accompanying the fundraiser also states that the goal is to “give Mickey some stability and peace of mind during a stressful time so that he can stay in his home and have the space to get back on his feet.” Currently, 62,000 of the 100,000 US dollars have already been raised from anonymous donors. So it remains to be seen whether the actor can avoid homelessness.
