The cast of “Stranger Things” will officially say goodbye one last time, when Netflix follows the series finale with the documentary “One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things Season 5”. The film premieres on January 12th and takes viewers behind the scenes as the Duffer brothers bring their characters’ complex storylines to a close and say goodbye with their cast.

Farewell to the cast and Hawkins

In the trailer for “One Last Adventure,” Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Natalia Dyer, Sadie Sink and other cast members share their emotional reactions to some of the final pages of the “Stranger Things” script. In another scene, Millie confesses to Bobby Brown: “I’m not ready to let go.”

“One Last Adventure” follows both the cast and creators of the series as they look back on the legacy of the production, which debuted in 2016. Over five seasons spread over almost a decade, viewers at home became deeply attached to the characters on screen, explain Matt and Ross Duffer. You feel the same way yourself. “Thank you for giving so much of yourself,” Matt says in a tearful farewell speech to the cast. “For all the laughs. The tears. We love you. Forever.”

Martina Radwan, the documentary’s director, told Netflix: “Spending an entire year on set with them was a real privilege. And an absolute thrill. Getting so close to them and watching them bring this beloved series to life in real time was pure joy. I only wish I could go back in time and document seasons 1 through 4.”

Voices of the documentary filmmaker

She added: “From the cast to their longtime companions, everyone welcomed me with remarkable generosity and openly shared their personal and collective experiences over a decade of creative filmmaking. The Duffers continue to push boundaries. And inspire everyone to be better. Me included. Their process and the series represent everything I love about filmmaking.”

Inspiration from great role models

The Duffer brothers said they were inspired to capture the making of the final season after remembering how influential the behind-the-scenes “Lord of the Rings” documentaries were for them growing up. “If you love ‘Stranger Things’ or are simply curious about how a major Hollywood production comes together,” they said, “then this is for you.”
