Luggage provider Samsonite Group SA has appointed Lars Föll as general manager for Germany.

At the turn of the year, the 47-year-old took over management of the brands Samsonite, Tumi, American Tourister, Gregory and Lipault on the German market, the group announced on Monday. He succeeded Dirk Schmidinger, who had led the activities in Germany since 2010 and will be leaving the company.

Föll has been working for the Samsonite Group since 2006. During this time, he held “various positions in the group’s global product team,” according to a statement. He was Marketing & Sales Director at Tumi Europe and General Manager of Gregory Europe since 2019. Föll will “continue to lead the up-and-coming outdoor brand in Europe and will be supported in his dual role by a brand manager who will strengthen the team from January,” said the group.

During his time at the group, Föll has “always demonstrated his strong ability to drive the Samsonite Group brands forward and lead the development of his teams with passion,” said Damien Mignot, President of Samsonite Group Europe, in a statement.

Föll is looking forward to his new challenge. “The German market is the largest in Europe, but also a very demanding one,” he explained. “Leading our brands onto new growth paths and finding ways to optimize our brand perception will be an exciting task that I am very much looking forward to.”
