VfB Stuttgart has rejected a lucrative offer for Jamie Leweling in order not to weaken the squad in the winter. It remains to be seen whether Bournemouth will follow up.

VfB Stuttgart has rejected a verbal offer from AFC Bournemouth for up to 40 million euros for offensive player Jamie Leweling. Sky Sport and “Kicker” reported this unanimously on Monday. The club does not want to sell the 24-year-old, who has scored four goals in 24 competitive games this season and prepared seven more goals, in the current transfer window in order not to weaken the squad.

Accordingly, the Premier League club wanted to sign Leweling as a replacement for Antoine Semenyo, who in turn is about to move to Manchester City. It is true for Stuttgart that, similar to the transfer of Nick Woltemade to Newcastle United last summer, they would become “weak” or at least willing to talk if the right offer was made. However, they still want to avoid a sudden Leweling farewell. After much back and forth and great interest from FC Bayern, Woltemade moved to Newcastle for 75 million euros.

Leweling, who developed into a German national player in Stuttgart, is one of the strongest players in recent weeks and most recently excelled in mid-December with a goal and two assists in a 4-0 win at Werder Bremen.
