The Bosnian from Sassuolo in his first season in Serie A has proven to be flexible, reliable and confident defender and now challenges the Bianconeri
Whatever happens, everyone will be happy and contented. Especially Juventus, which is preparing to make another rich capital gain with a product released by its second team. Or, alternatively, to bring it home at half the price. Terik Muharemovic was the revelation defender of the first round of Serie A and tomorrow evening at the “Mapei Stadium” he will challenge his recent past for the first time. Waiting, in the summer, to define his future which, in any case, will make Sassuolo and the Bianconeri smile.
Muharemovic’s career between Juventus and Sassuolo
—
It was the summer of 2021 when the Juventus scouts discovered him during a couple of friendlies with the Bosnian Under 19 against Croatia and Saudi Arabia and decided to bring him to Turin on a free transfer from the Austrians Wolfsberger, with whom he had already made his first team debut. Muharemovic started in the Juventus Primavera, then lived a season between this and the Next Gen. The turning point came in the 2023-24 season, when this central defender born in 2003, 1.87m tall and with a polite left foot (he was born as an offensive winger, then slowly decreased his range of action) earned himself a starting place in Serie C, began training with the “grown-ups” (“Bonucci gave me a lot of advice: how to defend better, how to put the body… Chiellini did the same”, the Sassuolo defender told Sportweek a few weeks ago) and also received his first and only call-up from Max Allegri. It is January 4, 2024, for the Italian Cup round of 16 match against Salernitana. “I did everything I could do, only that in the end they didn’t give me those 5 minutes for the debut that I think I deserved”, he later confessed. But that year, however, made Muharemovic known to the experts, in particular to the Sassuolo sporting director Palmieri, who, a few days before the end of the 2024 summer transfer window, chose him to rebuild the black-green team after relegation. “It was a great coup, we paid less than 4 million”, the Emilian manager will later reveal, who had bet on the Bosnian on loan with the obligation to buy in the event of promotion. And a clause that can now make everyone happy.
muharemovic and the pro juve clause

Yes, because the contract for the sale of Muharemovic from Juve to Sassuolo provides that the Bianconeri will have 50% of the future resale. A very precious treasure, at a time in which the Juventus managers have to deal with the sword of Damocles of UEFA Financial Fair Play and with the objective of balancing the budget in 2027. But perhaps, who knows, also an opportunity to find a futuristic and talented central defender in a department where beyond Bremer and Kalulu there don’t seem to be any untouchables. Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has made no secret that a transfer in January is not in the plans, while in June the starting price will be 30 million. On the other hand, the Bosnian’s performance in this first part of Serie A justifies the requests: flexible (in the past he played in defense and 3, now he plays central 4), reliable (15 games played in full out of 18) and safe (only lower than 10% of central defenders in the top 5 European leagues for interceptions and sweeps). Inter are thinking, quite a bit, about replacing De Vrij and Acerbi (out of contract in June), in the Premier League there are already many sporting directors who have sent their observers to follow him closely at the “Mapei Stadium”. At that point, the choice will be up to Comolli: collect half of the amount offered to Sassuolo or bring him back to Continassa by shelling out the remaining 50%. Either way, though, everyone will be happily ever after.
