For many children, a birthday is an occasion: cake, gifts and classmates singing. But for Ceylin (12) and many other children from Zoetermeer, this is not so obvious, because there is no money for this at home. In the video she and her mother Wendy talk about it with Sander Lantinga.

Hundreds of thousands of children have no money at home to celebrate a birthday. In January, PostNL is calling on the whole of the Netherlands to donate a gift for the birthday boxes of the Jarige Job Foundation. This way, children from Zoetermeer who do not have much at home can still celebrate their birthday.

The birthday box from the Jarige Job Foundation came at exactly the right time for Ceylin. She remembers it well: “I thought it was great fun and was very grateful to receive such gifts. It’s really nice that so many people give this to children they don’t know,” she says.

The birthday box made a big difference for Wendy and Ceylin. It contains not only gifts, but also treats, something tasty for home, decorations and much more to celebrate an unforgettable day. At home and at school.

This is how you can help

PostNL and the Jarige Job Foundation believe that every child deserves a carefree and cheerful birthday. And you can help too. Donate a new gift that you have left over (or buy specially) and send it for free via PostNL in January. The Jarige Job Foundation puts your gift in a birthday box for a child who desperately needs it.
