“Disrespectful”: Dieter Hecking sharply criticizes the dismissal

Dieter Hecking had to leave the club after a disappointing start to the season in Bochum. He is anything but satisfied with the manner of his farewell.
Dieter Hecking sharply criticized the process of his dismissal from VfL Bochum in the autumn. He told the “Editorial Network Germany”: “I assumed that I would still get the next game so that I could steer everything in the right direction. Finally, I found out on the phone that it was over – but not from the person directly responsible for it. He only called three quarters of an hour later.”
Although he did not give a specific name, the statements do not shed a good light on the club management around CEO Andreas Luthe. “That was disrespectful. The manner in which I was particularly annoyed – in addition to the dismissal as such,” said Hecking.
The 61-year-old had to leave in September after four defeats in five second division games. He was initially followed by U19 coach David Siebers, and later Uwe Rösler. Under Hecking’s successor, the team has now stabilized and is in tenth place in the table.
Despite the disappointment over the abrupt departure, Hecking can imagine continuing to work as a coach. However, he rules out engagements in countries such as Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates for political reasons. Instead, he considers other European countries where German or English is spoken.
